As a business owner in today’s world, the internet plays a key role in your success. So what is internet marketing services? And, how does it affect your business?


Whether you have a brick and mortar or your business is strictly online I am sure I don’t need to tell you that marketing is very important.


However, there is so much to keep track of in today’s business how do you know which internet marketing services to use. If you haven’t figured out yet it seems like everyone has the answer and they are willing to sell it to you for a price.


That being said, you could waste a lot of revenue just trying to play catch up to the latest and greatest marketing plan.


Let’s face it, as a business owner you have way too many fires to stoke to spend your time chasing different ways to promote your business.


So, I have put together some tips on how to avoid mistakes so that you can focus on building your empire.

You may not beware of this but, social media is way more than just checking to see what your high school buddies are doing or catching up on the latest gossip.


Billions of people are on social media each day. It has become a huge part of our lives. In fact, in 2019, the average time spent on social networks is 2 hours and 22 minutes each day on social media. Something to think about, Does your circle of influence on social media know what you do for a living?


If you can answer yes to that question look at how many friends you have on Facebook. If you have less than 5000 you are not utilizing this platform properly.


Most people allow Facebook to consume their time and life. As a business owner or future business owner, your need to capitalize on this consumption for your business as part of your internet marketing services that you provide.


I realize that goes against every marketing strategy out there. But as you are aware you can spend hours reading your friend’s post without being productive.


It is important to keep your business in minds of all your friends at all times. It is OK to interact with your friends, but do it in a way that has your business the best interest in hand.


It is easy to get caught up in various different social media platforms. You can utilize a couple of them effectively at the same time. However, don’t try to be a master of all social media.


It will consume you, making it is easy to lose focus on your task. I use 4 platforms in my marketing that I have found to be effective for my business.


I suggest starting with 1 or 2 then branch out to a couple more. Keep track of the analytics of each platform and focus on the one that works best for you and your business.

There are several ways to advertise on the internet. However, if you are not careful paid advertising on the internet can soak up the bulk of your advertising budget. If you don’t know what you are doing, you could be throwing money in the air.


For example, Have you ever gotten a request from Facebook to boost your post for $5 dollars a day? If so, what were your results? I’m guessing you have received a lot of hits but no sales.


That is because Facebook took the reins in your business. For the same amount of money each day you can target your ads to a more specific audience that will benefit your not Facebook. You can learn how to target your Facebook post for the best results here.


Another form of paid advertising is called pay per click or PPC. PPC can be used in most platforms such as Google, Bing, and social media. This can be very effective as long as you are using the right keywords.


That is to say, it is important to choose keywords that are utilized for your business but not in a way that you spend a lot of money trying to compete with the big dogs.


Keep in mind that big corporations have tons of money and marketing specialists that focus on internet marketing. They care less if you spend your money trying to compete.


The key is to target your advertising differently. Let’s say you would like to place an ad on Google. Google is a PPC platform when it comes to advertising.


The object is for you to been seen on the first page, not the tenth. In most cases, this will be expensive depending on what you are tracking.


If you are paying for each click and each click cost $0.50 you can see that it would be very expensive to get 1000 people to your website.


Unless your place your analytics tracking on your checkout page. Now all of a sudden you are only paying for people that purchase not people just looking.


I am not sure about your but, I would much rather pay to have 1000 sales versus 1000 looky-lous. By the way, you can use this same tactic with a social media PPC ad as well.


As a result, you can see how something so simple as where your place your analytics has everything to do with what you spend on internet advertising.

In today’s world having an online presence is extremely important. This not just about being on social media. I don’t care what you are selling and who you are selling to if you don’t have some sort of website you are missing out on thousands of dollars in revenue each year.


With over 4 billion people online it is important to get your message to the masses.


With the proper website and targeted keywords, you can easily draw a crowd for Free. However, keep in mind, this is not an overnight success It does take time to gain authority in your particular niche.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is basically paying someone a commission to advertise your products. Having people on your side gives you an advantage over other businesses.


Allow me to explain, I make a living selling other businesses ‘ products via my blog and other ways on the internet. There are well over 1 million products that are being marketed by affiliates.


Think about your business, now obviously I do not know what your business is. But, what do you sell? Is it yourself or a product? In most cases, it is both.


If you sell a product and you have employees you basically are already using affiliates to market your products. Why not pay someone only if they sell instead of a kid walking around on their cellphone all day. Who will represent your brand better?


That is to say, if you are marketing yourself, an affiliate can help as well.


There are many companies out there that handle all of your affiliates. Companies like ShareASale, ClickBank, CJ Affiliate, and Affiliaxe do all the heavy lifting for you. Affiliate marketers like myself flock to these companies looking for products to promote. They do the work for your include paying your affiliates.


The cost is minimal compared to advertising on your own. Having an affiliate program in place is no different from giving a 5 – 10% discount on your product.

Influence Marketing

Blogging, YouTube, and Social Media live is a great way to make a name for your products. These platforms are designed to create an influence.


If you become an authoritative figure within your niche you can easily print money so to speak. Keep in mind that this type of marketing is mainly free, however, it does take a lot of time and effort to get your message across.


On the other hand, the best thing about this type of marketing is that influence marketing can be accomplished via your own website.


That is to say by adding a Blog as well as the other influence type media, your website becomes a part of you which shows yours as an authoritative figure in your marketplace.

Email Marketing


Email marketing by far is the easiest to accomplish yet very few utilize this type of marketing to their advantage. With an email list, you can reach your target audience anytime you want without any extra cost.


This is what I don’t understand about business, lets say your own a brick and mortar store. It does not matter what you sell. Do you ask every customer for an email? If you answered no. Why?


This is a customer that shops in your store already. Do you not think he would like a special sale or to know when a new product comes out? Don’t get me wrong many people collect emails for the wrong reason and that has put everyone on guard for giving out emails.


However, if you have trust and maintain the trust with your customer you can easily collect emails and or phone numbers for marketing purposes.


Even if you are selling yourself, email marketing can and should be used as a major part of your marketing campaign. For example what if you are a Realtor?


How can email help your market since your only see a client on average one time? Did you know that studies show that over 75% of people who used a Realtor would not use them again? If this is the case, chances are they will not recommend you as well.


First off this is the wrong way to think about this. If you can understand the fact that you are a marketer first and a Realtor second you will be a very successful Realtor.


Face it, list a property, and market it via Facebook or other social media. Then you sit back and wait for other Realtor’s to show and sell the home your listed (this is a form of affiliate marketing by the way).


Now let’s turn the page, you have been utilizing some other ways I have mentioned. You have a website and a social media presence and a YouTube channel.


When someone wants to purchase or sell a home they go online to search. And, they find you. You collect their email and stay in contact with them.


Not only do you get a sale but you gain a customer after the sale. What else can you help your client with? What referrals can you provide that benefit your client? Now, you are a household name.

Final Thoughts

I have tried to explain what is internet marketing services in a way that will help you. If you can grasp any one of these programs you will see an increase in sales, no matter what or who you are selling.


Some of these services require a bit of time for a learning curve while others can be implemented immediately. There are many people who will help with these services including myself.


However, they come at a price. Consider the price as the cost of doing business. To implement a proper internet presence you will either pay with money or time.


It all depends on where you stand in your business. How critical is your income at this stage of your business? My suggestion is if you are just starting or struggling to keep your head above water. Then take the time to learn a few of these practices and help yourself.

Thank you for this article.  It’s a valuable bit of information because it’s easy to decide to start a business online but it’s hard to know how to get that business off the ground.  Your suggestions are spot-on but as you say, take the time to do things right and learn a few at a time.  My 2 cents (for what it’s worth) is to start the website first and then jump right into social media.
